On Outreach & Advocacy: Speaking on the GJDYC Panel

Last week Thursday, I had the great honor of being a panelist during the Global Jamaica Diaspora Youth Council’s Inaugural Online Youth Summit entitled, Leading Beyond COVID-19: Industries, Impact, & Innovation. The GJDYC is an amazing organization and collective of young leaders of Jamaican descent who are leading change across various industries throughout the diaspora. It was a wonderful experience to be able to learn from different leaders across such diverse industries like health, environment, tourism, education, and business. As a guest speaker on the “Outreach & Advocacy” panel, I was able to speak in regards to my nonprofit work through Roots Strong, how nonprofits can best serve their communities at this time and beyond COVID-19, and the importance of centering the stories and narratives of the individuals and communities we serve. I was so honored to be able to speak about something I am so passionate about on a platform like this. If you would like to rewatch the panel discussion and my presentation, please watch the video here.

Thank you to the GJDYC for having me. The youth summit was empowering and I am proud of the work that the organization is doing to connect our diaspora.
